A Tribute to Treice...

Yesterday, Barb's very dear friend, Treice Backs lost her battle with cancer. As you can see by reading her blog, she was a bright light, a wonderful mother and friend and also a fearless fighter for the truth, for fairness and for healing. She leaves behind her loving husband, Kelly and a young son, Max who will miss her deeply. On Mother's Day (this Sunday) we at Bodacious will be donating a portion of our sales to help support the family through this sad time. If you care to make a donation directly, you can do so through her blog. Any financial support will assist Kelly in taking the time to do what's best for him and Max during this next phase of their lives. Thanks for listening and caring. We wish you all a love-filled day! http://treicebacks.blogspot.com/

Alternative Wedding Bells are ringing!

Whether you are planning a wedding or know someone who is, this just may be the event of the year. I happen to be planning an I Do this summer and the thought of all that expensive, crazy wedding stuff scares me to death. I do want an alternative to a big expensive wedding, I do want to do things a little different than most and I do need to set a date. I will set a date before January 17th and I can't wait to see what's in store for me at Vancouver's First Alternative Wedding Show!
Check out their website here and maybe we'll see you at The Heritage Hall on Saturday January 17th from 11-6?
I Do think you will enjoy it!!

It really did rock - thanks to the fantastic live band - The Lucky Devils - playing in our window. We also raised over $400 for the "Welcome to My Life" YWCA program!!! Congratulations to all who won the beautiful IceRok jewelry pieces and to the lucky grand prize winner of the pink sapphire angel wing necklace ($1000 retail value!). We'll try to get a pic for you all...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VANCOUVER, BC - Bodacious ROKS while Raising Funds and Awareness!

Join the Bodacious ladies Thursday, November 6th, 6-9 pm as they launch the HOT, HOT, HOT new ICEROK jewelry line out of Toronto. IceRok crew will be on hand to show off the latest designs recently spotted on Lindsay Lohan, Julianne Hough, and 90210’s Shenae Grimes!

The concept of IceRok Jewelry originated in the summer of 2006. After several months of traveling around the world and experiencing a variety of cultures, three friends, Michael Wainstock, Russell Gozlan, and Michael Kimel, identified the need for a company focused on stylish, progressive, and affordable jewelry. Based in Toronto, Canada, IceRok aims to create unique products with a slick aesthetic and an accessible, customer-based approach.

Fantastic goodie bags for the first 50 people in the door, prize draws, live entertainment by The Lucky Devils and more.

A percentage of all sales during this event will be donated to the YWCA’s “Welcome to My Life” program which is an after-school program offered at selected schools throughout Metro Vancouver to help Grade 7 girls with their transition to high school.

With every donation to this program on the evening of the event or a purchase of IceRok jewelry, guests will be entered to win a signature IceRok design valued at $1000 retail!

Check out our talented designers - Cheryl of Schaart Clothing and Miriam of Flaming Angels - in the Georgia Straight this week! They both also sell at the Portobello West Market which is held on the last Sunday of every month at the Rocky Mountaineer Station (1755 Cottrell Street). Bodacious Goings On...

Well...one event down, two more to go. We had our official launch party for our Bodacious label last night at the store and I must admit, it was a huge success. We had such a nice mixture of people, a few media peeps and everything and everyone looked so pretty! We had the night catered by some beautiful friends of ours who are starting their own event planning/catering company, Miss Tura. The food was absolutely delicious!!! Our lovely Jocelyn also made chocolate covered strawberries and cherries which were gobbled down appreciately. The picture you see is of a flower mannequin that our local florist, Sam (Buy the Bunch) created for us which I have to say left me speachless and brought tears to my eyes! 75 pink peonies, cabbage roses, lilies, orchids, oh my!!! A bit of a late night...we had to finish the punch which I have to say I'm regretting a little bit today:) Tomorrow is Main Day which will be another big event - from setting up at 8:00 am to the last band, Sister J's Soul Summit @ 5:00 pm, there will be thousands of people walking along Main Street and hopefully shopping! Always a fun time. And...Monday, we're going to be on Breakfast Television with Simi Sara. We will be doing a live interview and fashion show of some of the new spring/summer designs at Bodacious. Early morning for us but well worth it, I'm sure. Tuesday, Malcolm Parry from the Vancouver Sun will be coming to interview us for the Financial section. He attended our party last night and seemed to be impressed by the success of the store so that's great! If only I could get into the Province, my mom would be so pleased:)
And that's about it for the next few days... WHEW!
Now if only someone would mow my lawn, I'd be really happy!
Happy Weekend everyone.
Lorna
